Dave Anderson, Partner
President

Dave began his insurance career in 1978 with Canadian Indemnity Insurance Company. As one of Canada’s largest and most respected liability insurers, Dave was trained by some of the best underwriters in the industry. Moving through various underwriting positions and finally into management, Dave dealt with many of the largest liability accounts written in the Vancouver office.

He joined J. H. Minet (Canada) Ltd. in 1988 in a management role and subsequently was promoted to Vice President where he worked on national and international accounts.

In 1992, he, Marti Messam and Mike Russell purchased Minet’s British Columbia operations and incorporated Metrix.

In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Dave manages a varied book of business which includes Professional Liability, Directors & Officers Liability, Labour Management Trust, and other general commercial/industrial accounts.

Dave is an instructor for the Insurance Brokers Association of B.C.

Marti Messam, CIP, Partner,
Senior Vice President

Marti’s responsibilities encompass Operations & Office Management, Account Risk Management review and Marketing Analysis. She also services a diverse book of business with focus on Professional Liability, Directors & Officers Liability and Jewellers Block.

With over 35 years in the insurance industry, Marti has held several management positions in key brokerages in the Vancouver locale.

Marti is a Chartered Insurance Professional, an Associate of the Insurance Institute of Canada, past President of the Canadian Insurance Professionals of Vancouver, a past Member and Past Chairman of the Insurance Council of British Columbia and a past Member and Past Chairman of the Insurance Brokers Association of B.C.’s Conference Committee. Currently Marti holds the position of Co-Chair for the B.C. Chapter of Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade (WICC).

Michael Russell, AIIC, Partner,
Senior Vice President

Mike has been engaged in the insurance industry since 1976. The first three years of his career were spent working with an insurance company, then on to become a broker.

Currently, Mike’s responsibilities focus on the management and development of Metrix's Architects' and Engineers' Professional Liability program as well as Lawyers' Professional Liability. With Mike’s 20+ years in the placement and development of Professional Liability, his knowledge in this area is one of the strongest in Canada.

An Associate of the Insurance Institute of British Columbia, Mike also is an instructor for the Insurance Brokers Association of B.C.

Senior Account Executive

Kent has 25 years experience covering many types of General Insurance including: Commercial Property and Casualty for any size company; Professional Errors and Omissions for Architects and Engineers and other professionals, Directors & Officers liability; Contract Bonding & Surety; Personal Lines including Homeowners, Excess Personal liability; Fleet and Garage auto policies.

Gary McGregor
Senior Account Executive

Gary started his career in the Insurance business in Toronto in 1962. For most of those 35+ years, he was employed with Zurich Canada in which he held various increasingly responsible positions. For many years, he headed up the International Division in Toronto. In 1988, he was transferred to Vancouver to take responsibility for the BC Regional Office. After five years, he was promoted to President of the International/Industrial Division which necessitated relocating to Toronto. Gary was responsible for such accounts as Molsons, Volkswagen, Siemens, Hoffman La Roche and Ciba Geigy.

He has served as Chairman of the Insurance Bureau of Canada (BC), as President of the Swiss Canadian Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the board of directors of various community organisations.

John Edwards, CAIB
Account Executive

Started in the insurance industry in 1988 with Allstate Insurance in Edmonton selling Automobile, Homeowners and Life insurance. Wanting to provide clients with more than just one insurers product John joined an international brokerage firm in there personal lines department as a new business sales representative. The opportunity arose to move within the company to Vancouver in the early 90’s and join the commercial insurance division. Since then John has many years of experience marketing and servicing all sizes and classes of business.

Diane Watson
Assistant Vice President

Diane has been in the insurance business for over 35 years as a broker, including 11 years with Minet Inc. and has been with Metrix since its incorporation. Her primary role involves negotiating the placement of coverage and terms for Professional Liability and Director and Officers Liability.

Angie Hodgins
Assistant Vice President, Marketing Manager

Angie’s career in the insurance industry spans some 30 years in varied insurer and broker positions. From marketing to underwriting, Angie has demonstrated her strengths and in-depth knowledge of the business and is an integral member of our team.

Served as Treasurer of the Canadian Insurance Professionals of British Columbia.
Non-Voting Member for 6 Years of the Insurance Council of British Columbia serving on various committees and involved in disciplinary tribunals.

Anne Lacourt
Professional Liability Marketer

Anne started her insurance career in Toronto with Security Insurance Company of Hartford in 1988 where her position grew with the company. She remained with Security as Administration Manager until June 2000 when she moved to San Diego, CA with her family. In July 2002 they moved to Vancouver, BC where she joined Metrix working with their Architects and Engineers Professional Liability specialists.

Pedro Catalan
Assistant Marketing Manager

Pedro started his career in insurance in 1989 as an automobile underwriter at Dominion of Canada in Ottawa. Having returned to Vancouver in 1993, he moved to the broker side and has worked at several brokerages in the lower mainland specializing in personal lines. In 2003 he moved into commercial lines as a processor and gained the experience and knowledge to become our newest commercial marketer. Pedro joined our firm in December of 2004.
